We would, at the appropriate stage of the project, appoint a suitable experienced Site Construction Manager to deal with the construction phase. It is our policy to involve the Site Construction Manager at an earlier stage as possible to ensure an efficient handover and so that they understand the rational behind design decisions. Also, early involvement allows them to comment on the constructability of design decisions being made. The Site Construction Manager would report to the Project Manager and he would be responsible for taking the project through to the successfully completion and handover of the plant to the client.

The Site Construction Manager would have available to him a Site Team which would consist, of necessary, of site engineers, supervisors, technical clerks and secretarial staff which would enable him to satisfy the requirements of the project. In addition the Site Construction Manager would have available to him the Head Office administration support as well as the full support of all the Project Team members on site if necessary to deal with any problems arising during the construction phase.

On certain fast track projects where there is a limited timescale and in order to ensure a smooth and rapid transition between the design and construction phase we transfer the Project Engineer to site to act as Site Construction Manager to take the project through to completion. In such cases, however, it is ensured that the appointed Project Engineer is suitably experienced and well equipped to undertake such an important role.

At the outset and throughout the course of the project we would ensure that site safety audits and risk assessments are carried out by out Health & Safety representatives and by our Environmental Health & Safety Engineer who would be independent from the project.

During the construction phase we would arrange for regular site progress meetings with the client and with sub-contractors whose works we would monitor, control and co-ordinate throughout the course of the project.

The Site Construction Manager and his team would ensure that all works are executed in strict accordance with the relevant standards and specifications applicable to the project.

In addition, we would normally assist with the preparation of test and commissioning schedules which we would supervise onsite. Furthermore depending upon the precise requirements of the client we would provide assistance with the preparation of the validation package having collated the necessary documentation during the course of the project.

Our further involvement on Validation assistance, i.e. preparation of DQ’s, IQ’s, OQ’s, PQ’s, etc. and ongoing commissioning assistance with chemicals will depend upon the client’s requirements.
