R B Plant has worked continuously for Abbott Laboratories, Queenborough over 24 years. The first design contract was signed in August 1978 for fees of £42,275.

As with many of our pharmaceutical clients, R B Plant is used both as an engineering support and a turnkey contractor.

R B Plant has recently completed the last phase of a £5m turnkey project.

The project involved input from all of R B Plant’s Engineering Departments, from Process engineering Design, Piling, Civil, Structural, Electrical including high voltage LV distribution and PLC controls. Also mechanical design including layouts, piping details, design and specifications for vessels, reactors, columns, condensers, heat exchangers, chillers, cooling towers and effluent treatment plant, to the assistance on FDA protocols DQ, IQ, PQ and OQ. Starting with a feasibility study, followed by outline design (with all Regulatory Authority Approvals) then detailed design and construction. Handover of the project was achieved within extremely tight financial and time constraints.
